Riviera Rambling Walking and Hiking on the French Riviera
After a summer break with a cottage renovation - Riviera Rambling is back in action. The aim is to get as many walks in before the high passes are closed - so we are heading north! hope you like the new walks Happy Rambling!
I have been mentioning the GRs in many of our walks as part of the route has been shared with one of them. For clarification I have now done a category on the GRs in the area, GR4, GR5, GR51, GR52 GR510 and 52A to show where they are in relation with our walks.
New! Directions available, so at least you wont get lost getting to the start of the walk .
The paths are now shown on the Google maps. The walks now appear in the downloads section where the waypoints are availablle for the walks in a .gpx format and a Google Earth file. The .gpx file you can import into your GPS, the Google Earth file you can open in Google Earth and see the path outline, if you press play it will give you a virtual tour in 3D.

Riviera Rambling - Walking and Hiking on the French Riviera
Riviera Rambling is a site dedicated to walkers, hikers and ramblers who would like to discover or get to know better the beautiful landscape of the French Riviera. There are many published guides in French and in English describing paths of differing degrees of difficulty and length - e.g. the excellent Les Guides Randoxygene available from Tourist Informtion Offices. The other essential tools are the IGN maps 1:25,000 which you can buy separately or as part of a DVD which contains maps of the whole region.
With all these resources at hand why do we need a website? Well the idea of the site is to help promote the region, and its country side and highlight routes that may not be in the published journals. It 's also a means for individuals to share their favourite walks, by logging into the site and posting details, to make it easier for others to follow.
